바이올린 김수빈

바이올리니스트 김수빈은 미국의 많은 주요 오케스트라와 그리고 보드에서 공연했고, 세계의 가장 유명한 무대에서 연주회를 선보였으며, Koch Discover International, Delos, Azica Records, 그리고 Stomp/EMI (한국) 레이블에서 녹음을 발표했다. 그는 Jeremy Denk와 Mitsuko Uchida와 같은 존경받는 실내악가들과 함께 작업하였으며, 20년 동안 요하네스 현악 4중주단의 제1 바이올리니스트였다. 현재, 피아니스트 Gloria Chien, 첼리스트 Paul Watkins 과 함께 Chien-Kim-Watkins Trio 의 멤버로 활동하고 있다.
 
김수빈은 1996년 파가니니 국제 바이올린 콩쿠르에서 1위를 차지했고 명망 있는 볼레티-부이토니, 에이버리 피셔 커리어 공로상, 헨리크 세링 재단 공로상을 받았다. 그는 링컨 센터의 2021년 챔버 음악 협회의 실내악 음악에 대한 특별 공로상을 받았다.
 
김수빈은 예일대 음악대학 바이올린 연습부의 객원 교수로 재직하고 있으며 뉴잉글랜드 음악원과 존스홉킨스 대학의 피바디 연구소 교수로 재직했다. 또한 스토니브룩 대학의 강사/거주 예술가 및 조교수를 역임했고, 서울 경희대에서도 후학양성에 힘썼다. 그는 챔버 뮤직 노스웨스트와 그가 설립한 레이크 챔플레인 챔버 뮤직 페스티벌의 예술 감독이며, 약 15년 동안 말보로 뮤직 페스티벌에서 공연을 펼쳐왔다.
 
김수빈은 클리브랜드 음악원에서 공부했으며, 커티스 음악원에서 음악 학사 학위를 받았다.


Violin Soovin Kim

Violinist Soovin Kim has performed with many of the major orchestras in the United States and aboard, presented recitals on the world’s most celebrated stages, and released recordings on the Koch Discover International, Delos, Azica Records, and Stomp/EMI (Korea) labels. He has worked and collaborated with such revered chamber musicians as Jeremy Denk and Mitsuko Uchida and for two decades was the first violinist in the Johannes String Quartet. Today, Kim is a member of the Chien-Kim-Watkins Trio with his wife, pianist Gloria Chien, and YSM faculty cellist Paul Watkins.
 
Kim won first prize at the 1996 Paganini International Violin Competition and has received the prestigious Borletti-Buitoni Trust Award, an Avery Fisher Career Grant, and a Henryk Szeryng Foundation Career Award. He received the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s 2021 Award for Extraordinary Service to Chamber Music.
 
Kim serves as Visiting Professor in the Practice of Violin at the Yale School of Music. Kim previously served on the faculty of the New England Conservatory and the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University. He has also served as Lecturer/Artist-in-Residence and Assistant Professor at Stony Brook University and as an international scholar at Kyung Hee University in Seoul. He is the Artistic Director of Chamber Music Northwest and the Lake Champlain Chamber Music Festival, which he founded, and maintains a relationship with the Marlboro Music Festival, with which he has performed on a dozen national tours over the course of nearly 15 years.
 
Kim earned his bachelor of music degree from the Curtis Institute of Music and studied before that at the Cleveland Institute of Music.
