프랑스 비올리스트 카린 레티엑은 그녀의 까다로운 기준과 광대한 예술적 시야로 잘 알려져있다. 그녀의 작업은 지난 20년동안 그녀를 인기있는 음악가, 특히 그녀의 전문분야인 실내악 연주자로 만들었다.
카린 레티엑은 파리 국립 고등음악원과 리옹 국립 고등음악원, 제네바 콘서바토리와 Berne Musikschule Konservatorium을 졸업하였다. 그녀는 라이어넬 테르티스 국제 비올라 콩쿠르에서 우승하고 Fondation Banque Populaire Natexis의 후원을 받았다. 그녀는 교육학을 수료하고 Conservatoire de la ville de Paris에서 후학을 양성하고 있다.

그녀의 관대한 스타일의 연주와 광범위한 레퍼토리는 다양한 타입의 실내악단과 자주 연주 기회를 갖게 한다. 또한 그녀는 암스테르담 왕립 콘체어트헤바우, 빈 콘체르트 하우스, 미국 일리노이의 라비니아 페스티벌,  파리의 샹젤리제 극장, 헤로데스 아티쿠스의 음악당에서 열리는 아테네 축제, 템펠호프의 베를린 페스티벌, 상트페테르부르크의 허미티지, 프라하의 루돌피눔 등에서 연주를 가졌다.

다방면에 걸친 예술가이자 세련된, 감각적인, 열정적인 그녀는 호기심과 창작활동 활성화의 중요성을 전하는 그녀의 의도로 구성되는 프로그램으로 유럽 최고의 실내악단과 동등한 Ensemble Calliopée를 위해 탁월한 길을 그려왔다. Ensemble Calliopée는 현재 제1차세계대전역사관의 상주단체로 음악분야와 역사분야를 한데 묶는 프로그램을 진행하고있다. 이 프로젝트는 문화부와 국방부의 지원을 받고있다.

앙상블은 오르세 미술관(« Isadora Duncan/ when the music is dancing »), 뤽상부르 미술관( « Chagall and Music »), 오랑주리 미술관( « When the jazz is landing » figuring 1917/USA in the first worl war)과 같이 각기 다른 미술관과 연계하여 그녀가 직접 쓰고 연주한 테마가 있는 프로그램으로 음악과 회화를 잇는 역할을 하고있다. 또한 앙상블은 파리의 Fondation des Etas-Unis에 상주하며 « Les Etats-Unis-terre d’accueil » 뮤지컬 프로그램을 통해 지난 세기동안 전세계의 예술가들을 환영한 미국의 역량에 대해 생각한다. 이 연계프로그램은 파리에 거주중인 미국인 음악가들을 위한 페다고지 프로그램을 포함한다.

2018-2019년에는 파리 인근의 생 제르맹 앙 레에 위치한 루이14세의 첫 번째 성인 프랑스 국립 고고학 박물관과 새로 연계한다. 카린 레티엑은 구석기시대부터 중세까지의 음악의 기원을 연결하는 프로그램을 기획한다.

카린 레티엑에게는 전파하는 것이 중요하다. 그녀는 적극적으로 많은 방면의 문화와 교육프로그램에 참여하고있다. 그녀는 France Musique와 France Inter에서 수많은 라디오 방송을 만들었고 노벨상을 수상한 물리학자 조르주 샤르파크가 젊은 학생을 위한 과학 교육 발전을 위해 만든 La main à la pâte 교육 프로젝트에 참여하여 프랑스의 야나체크 운동가였던 Martinů가 작곡한 스코어를 재조명하는 극작품 H136 을 썼다. 그녀는 돈 켄트의 영화 « Juste avant l’orage »의 사운드트랙을 직접 작곡하고 연주하였다. 그녀는 수많은 음악 콩쿠르와 문학 콩쿠르의 심사위원이다. 그녀의 친구인 천체물리학자 허버트 리브스와 그녀는 우주와 음악을 뒤얽는 연주를 구상한다. 가장 주목할 만한 프로젝트는 모차르트와 별들이다.

Karine Lethiec, Viola

French violist Karine Lethiec is well-known for her exacting standards and wide artistic horizons. Her work over the past 20 years has made her a much sought-after musician, particularly for her expertise in chamber music.

Karine Lethiec holds advanced diplomas from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique of Paris as well as that of Lyon, the Conservatoire de Musique de Genève and the Berne Musikschule Konservatorium. She is an award winner of the Lionel Tertis International Viola Competition and of the Fondation Banque Populaire Natexis. She has a graduate teaching diploma and teaches at the Conservatoire de la ville de Paris.

With the Stradivari Quartett, she has recorded the complete Mozart quintets(Dynamic). Lethiec is also drawn to contemporary composition and encourages new music by commissioning, programming and performing new works, with over 30 first performances. She has recorded Kryštof Mařatka’s Astrophonia with both the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio-France (France Musique) and the Talich Chamber Orchestra (Arion).

Her generous style of playing and her extensive knowledge of the repertoire written for all types of groups that include the viola mean that Karine Lethiec is frequently called upon to play with various types of chamber groups. She has travelled widely, performing at the Amsterdam Royal Concertgebouw, the Vienna Konzerthaus, the Ravinia Festival in Illinois/USA, the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris, the Athens Festival at the Odeon of Herod Atticus, the Berlin Festival at Tempelhof, the Hermitage in Saint Petersburg and the Rudolfinum in Prague…

An eclectic artist, cultured, sensitive and passionate, she has mapped out a brilliant path for the Ensemble Calliopée, one that equals the best European ensembles, with her choice of programmes inspired by curiosity and her need to impart a profound meaning to the intimate act of creation. The Ensemble Calliopée is currently in residence at the Musée de la Grande Guerre des Pays de Meaux (Museum of the Great War ) for a programme that brings together the fields of music and history. This project is supported by the Mission Centenaire/Ministery of Defence and Ministery of Culture.

The Ensemble is also partner of differents museums to connect music and painting through thematic programms that Karine Lethiec is writing and performing , as the Musée d’Orsay ( « Isadora Duncan/ when the music is dancing ») , musée du Luxembourg in Paris ( « Chagall and Music »), musée de l’Orangerie ( « When the jazz is landing » figuring 1917/USA in the first worl war).

The Ensemble is also in residence at the Fondation des Etas-Unis in Paris with a programm about « Les Etats-Unis-terre d’accueil » figuring through musical programms the capacity of United States of welcoming artists from all over the world during the past centuries. The partnership includes a pedagogical programm for american residents musicians in Paris.

The year 2018-2019 will see a new partnership with the National Museum of Archeology located near Paris, at St Germain en Laye, firsty castle of King Louis 14. Karine Lethiec is creating and performing a programm connecting muisc origines, from Paleolithic to Middle Age.

For Lethiec, transmission, whatever form it takes, is important, and she is actively involved in many diverse cultural and teaching projects. She has made numerous radio broadcasts on France Musique and France Inter and has participated in the teaching project La main à la pâte, an initiative of the late Nobel prize winner, physicist Georges Charpak, to improve science teaching for young pupils. Lethiec wrote the screenplay for the film H136 on the rediscovery of a score composed by Martinů, a member of the Janacek Movement in France. She created and played the sound track of Don Kent Moovie « Juste avant l’orage ». She has been a member of the scientific comittee of the exhibition « My violin have safed my life » , figuring Musicians in the Great War. She is a panel member of numerous musical and literary competitions. With her friend the astrophysicist Hubert Reeves she conceives performances that intertwine the cosmos and music; one of the most notable is Mozart et les étoiles (Mozart and the Stars).
