첼로 리웨이
동시대에 가장 인기 있는 첼리스트 중 하나인 리웨이는 차이코프스키 국제 콩쿠르에서의 준우승과 나움베르크 국제 첼로 콩쿠르의 우승을 통해 그의 실력을 입증하였으며, 현재 전 세계의 누비며 활동하고 있다.
그는 BBC 심포니 오케스트라, 로스앤젤레스 필하모닉, 런던 필하모닉 오케스트라, 베를린 방송 교향악단, NDR 엘프필하모니 오케스트라, 콘체르트하우스 오케스트라, 밀라노 주세페 베르디 교향악단, 오사카 필하모닉 오케스트라, 홍콩 필하모닉 오케스트라 등의 세계적인 교향악단과 더불어 블라디미르 아슈케나지, 앤드루 데이비스, 마렉 야노프스키, 얍 판 츠베덴, 지아난드레아 노세다, 이리 벨로흘라베크 등의 저명한 지휘자와 함께 연주해왔다. 또한 크레메라타 발티카, 신포니아 바르소비아, 뮌헨 체임버 오케스트라 등의 실내악단과도 연주를 해오고 있으며, 최근에는 런던 심포니 오케스트라, 러시아 필하모닉 오케스트라, 브뤼셀 체임버 오케스트라, 핀란드 방송 교향악단과의 첫 연주를 가지기도 하였다.
리웨이는 런던 위그모어홀과 링컨센터 체임버 뮤직 소사이어티에 주기적으로 초청받고 있으며, BBC 프롬, 라인가우 뮤직 페스티벌, 시티 오브 런던 페스티벌, 슐레스비히 홀슈타인 뮤직 페스티벌 등의 주요 축제에 초청받아 연주하였다. 2001년과 2002년에는 BBC의 뉴 제너레이션 아티스트 프로젝트와 2008 베이징 올림픽, 2012 런던 올림픽, 세계경제포럼, 포춘 글로벌 포럼 등에도 초청받은 바 있다.
그는 유니버셜 뮤직과 데카를 통해 베토벤 소나타 전곡 음반을 발매하였으며, 피아니스트 알베르트 티우와 라흐마니노프의 작품을, 싱가포르 심포니 오케스트라와 함께 드보르작의 협주곡 등을 발매하기도 하였다. 최근에는 롱 유의 지휘로 상하이 심포니 오케스트라와 ‘리웨이의 2013 라이브 콘서트’를 발매하였다.
리웨이는 영국북부왕립음악대학에서 랄프 커쉬바움과 길드홀음악연극학교에서 데이비드 타케노를 사사하였다. 이후 그는 영국북부왕립음악대학에서 교수를 역임하였으며, 현재는 YST콘서바토리에서 교수를, 상하이음악학원과 북경중앙음악학원에서 부교수를 역임하며 후학 양성에 힘쓰고 있다.
Cello Liwei Qin
As one of the most sought-after cellists of his generation, Chinese Australian Li-Wei Qin has appeared all over the world as a soloist and as a chamber musician. After achieving great success at the 11th Tchaikovsky International Competition where he was awarded the Silver Medal, Li-Wei has since won the First Prize in the prestigious 2001 Naumburg Competition in New York. Highlights in recent seasons includes debuts with the London Symphony, Russian Philharmonic and Brussels Chamber Orchestras.
Li-Wei has enjoyed successful artistic collaborations with many of the world’s great orchestras including all the BBC symphony orchestras, Los Angeles Philharmonic, London Philharmonic, Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, NDR-Sinfonierorchester Hamburg, Konzerthaus Orchester Berlin, La Verdi Orchestra Milan, Osaka Philharmonic, Hong Kong Philharmonic among many others. Leading conductors with whom he has worked include Vladimir Ashkenazy, Sir Andrew Davis, Marek Janowski, Jaap Van Zweden, Gianandrea Noseda, the late Jiri Belohlavek and the late Lord Menuhin. Li-Wei has also appeared with chamber orchestras such as the Kremerata Baltika, Sinfonia Varsovia, the Munich, the Manchester, the Zurich, the Australian Chamber Orchestras.
In recital and chamber music, Li-Wei is a regular guest at the Wigmore Hall and for the Lincoln Center Chamber Music Society, New York. He has appeared at the BBC Proms, the Rheingau, the City of London and the Schlewigs-Holstein Music Festivals. Also, he was invited to join the BBC 'New Generations' scheme in 2001 and 2002. Other major invitations included appearances at both the 2008 Beijing Olympics, 2012 London Olympics, the Davos World Economics Forum and the Opening Ceremony of the 2017 Fortune Global Forum.
His recordings include the complete Beethoven Sonatas, Works of Rachmaninov with pianist Albert Tiu and Dvořàk Concerto with Singapore Symphony. Recently, courtesy of Universal Music, Li-Wei's 2013 live concert with the Shanghai Symphony and Maestro Yu Long has been released.
Prior to teaching at the YST Conservatory, Li-Wei was a professor of cello at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester. He is also a guest professor at Shanghai and Central Conservatory of Music in China.
