KBS교향악단
KBS교향악단은 1956년 12월 20일 초대 상임 지휘자인 임원식과 창단 연주를 가진 이래 한국 클래식 음악계를 선도하는 교향악단으로 자리매김해왔다. 이후 홍연택, 원경수, 오트마 마가, 정명훈, 드미트리 키타옌코 등 세계 정상의 지휘자들이 거쳐갔고, 2014년부터 요엘 레비가 음악감독을 역임하고 있으며, 2017년에는 부지휘자 윤현진과 함께 KBS교향악단을 이끌고 있다.
63년간 대한민국을 대표하는 교향악단으로 성장해 온 KBS교향악단은 교향곡에서부터 실내악에 이르기까지 풍부한 레퍼토리를 통해 대한민국 클래식 음악의 지평을 넓혀가고 있다. KBS교향악단은 백건우와 장영주, 길 샤함, 정명화, 미샤 마이스키, 파비오 루이지, 조성진 등 국내외 최고의 지휘자와 협연자들을 초청해왔으며, 정기연주회와 초청 및 기획연주회, 문화소외계층을 위한 찾아가는 음악회 등 매년 100회 이상의 공연을 통해 깊이 있고 수준 높은 연주를 선사함과 동시에 시즌 및 주제별로 다채로운 음악적 접근을 통해 청중과의 소통을 시도하고 있다.
2018년 세계적인 클래식 음반 레이블인 도이치 그라모폰에서 공연 실황 음반을 발매하고, 체코슬로바키아 건국 100주년 기념 초청연주회, 한국 폴란드 수교 30주년 기념 순회공연, 오스트리아 빈 무지크페라인 황금홀 특별연주회 등 국제적으로 기록할 만한 성과를 내는 한편, 여수음악제, 벚꽃축제 음악회, 직장인 콘서트 등 친근하고 새로운 시도로 대한민국의 클래식 음악계의 주목을 받고 있다.
KBS교향악단은 2019년도에도 차별화된 연주와 신선한 기획을 통해 청중과 공감하는 대한민국 대표 클래식 문화 브랜드로 자리매김 할 것이다.
KBS Symphony Orchestra
Founded in 1956, the renowned KBS Symphony Orchestra has become the representative orchestra in Korea. Ever since its inaugural season with Maestro Won-shik Ihm, the Orchestra has continued to grow under the leadership of great musical minds such as Yeon-taek Hong, Kyung-su Won, Othmar Mága, Myung-Whun Chung, and Dmitri Kitayenko. Since 2014, maestro Yoel Levi has been leading the orchestra. Under Yoel Levi's leadership, Hyun-Jin Yoon, the assistant conductor was appointed in 2017.
The Orchestra plays over 100 concerts a year; in addition to the main subscription concerts, Young People’s Concerts, K-Lover outreach concerts, and various special-themed and corporate concerts fill its calendar. The roster of artists who have performed with the Orchestra includes preeminent musical personalities such as Kun-Woo Paik, Sungjin Cho, Sarah Chang, Gil Shaham, Myung-wha Chung, Mischa Maisky, and Fabio Luisi. In 2018, the Orchestra issued the live performance album with the globally leading classic music label Deutsche Grammophon.
Internationally, planned a concert tour to Czech and Slovakia for the 100th Anniversary of the founding of the nation, a concert tour the 30th anniversary of Korea's diplomatic ties with Poland, and special concert at the Golden Hall of Vienna. At the same time, the Orchestra has sought popular and audience-friendly concert such as Yeosu Music Festival, the Cherry Blossom Festival Concert, and the Concert for Office Workers, etc.
In 2019, KBS Symphony Orchestra will stay committed to reaching and inspiring audiences through musical excellence and variety events as Korea’s representative classical culture brand.
