이혜전, 피아노
음악을 대하는 엄격함과 자유로움, 순수함과 열정을 지닌 피아니스트 이혜전은 12세에 국립교향악단과의 협연을 시작으로 서울시향 정기연주회 협연, 동아콩쿠르 입상 등의 성과를 거두면서 그 재능을 인정받기 시작했다. 서울예고 수석졸업, 서울대 음대 기악과 수석졸업 후, 미국 뉴 잉글랜드 콘서바토리에서 우수 실기상 (Distinction in Performance)의 영예를 안고 석사학위를 받았으며 남가주 대학 (University of Southern California)에서는 장학금을 받고 연주 박사학위를 취득하였다.
산타모니카 대학과 엘카미노 대학 강사를 역임하였으며 91년에 귀국한 그는 헝가리 세게드 국립교향악단, KBS 교향악단, 서울챔버, 강남교향악단, 대전방송교향악단, 소피아 솔리스트 챔버 오케스트라 등과 협연, 음악춘추 창사 20주년 및 25주년 기념 독주회에 초청연주, 피아니스트 강충모와 듀오 연주, KBS ‘한국의 음악가’ 시리즈 음반, 리스트 독주곡 음반 등 활발한 연주 활동과 음반 작업을 해왔다.
바이올리니스트 홍종화와 함께 베토벤 바이올린 소나타 전곡을 연주하여 호평을 받은 바 있으며 베토벤 피아노 소나타 전곡의 완주를 통해 그는 또 한번 음악 팬들과 평론가로부터 “확대된 표현의 폭, 뛰어난 집중력, 진지함과 섬세함, 응집력과 유연한 감성”을 지닌 연주자라는 평을 얻었으며 “작품에 대한 이상적인 사고를 연주를 통해 고스란히 현실화 시킬 수 있는 완벽주의자”라는 찬사를 받았다.
또한 미국, 영국, 독일, 네덜란드, 헝가리, 호주 등에서 독주 및 듀오 연주를 통해 연주의 영역을 넓혀가고 있으며 유로뮤직 페스티발 및 New York International Keyboard Institute & Festival에 초청되어 연주와 마스터클래스를 지도하는 한편, 국내 굴지의 콩쿠르 및 New York Carnegie Recital Debut Audition, NJCV Young Artists International Competition, International Beethoven Paino Competition 등의 국제콩쿠르의 심사위원으로 활동 중이다.
줄리아드 예비학교 교수를 역임하였으며 현재는 숙명여대 피아노과 교수로 재직 중이다.

Pianist Hae Jeon Lee started playing the piano at the age of 5. Since her debut with the Korean National Symphony Orchestra at age 12, she has won many awards and competi-tions.

After graduating from Seoul National University with the highest honors, she received her master’s degree with “Distinction in Performance” from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. She continued her studies at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, where she completed her Doctoral of Musical Arts (DMA) degree.
Her performing career includes solo appearances with many leading orchestras, such as the Hungary Szeged Orchestra, Sofia Chamber Orchestra, Korean Broadcasting Sympho-ny, Seoul Chamber Orchestra and Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra. She has appeared as a recitalist in various venues including the Amsterdam Concertgebow Hall and Sydney Opera House.
She has also performed actively with her husband Choong-Mo Kang as duo-pianists, and the duo have been invited to perform in London and Oxford in addition to numerous domes-tic and international cities. Most recent concerts include duo recitals with her husband in Weil Recital Hall in New York City and various cities in China.

As a recording artist, Hae-Jeon Lee has recorded solo works by Liszt and Beethoven as well as various pieces for four hands and two piano works with her husband. She has been asked to record in the “Korean Musician’s Series” sponsored by the Korean Broadcasting Station.
Following her performance of the complete cycle of Beethoven's Sonatas for Piano and Violin with colleague and Professor Jong-Hwa Hong, Ms. Lee performed a complete cycle of Beethoven Piano Sonatas. This ambitious project has received much acclaim from both critics and music lovers.
In 2014, She had been on the piano faculty at Juilliard Pre-College while taking a temporary leave from Sookmyung Women’s University in Seoul. During the summer, she teaches and performs at the Euro Music Festival in Leipzig in addition to her duties as a teacher, per-former and adjudicator at various music schools, festivals and competitions.
Following her performance of the complete cycle of Beethoven's Sonatas for Piano and Violin with colleague and Professor Jong-Hwa Hong, Ms. Lee performed a complete cycle of Beethoven Piano Sonatas. This ambitious project has received much acclaim from both critics and music lovers.
